Yesterday, I hiked this section of the Bollinger Creek Loop Trail in Las Trampas Regional Wilderness with some friends. It’s is one of the few trails in Las Trampas that is shade-covered. It’s also relatively short, with the section along the creek and through the trees being only 0.69 miles (one-way). This is a fun trail to hike with kids, as there’s a lot to … Continue reading Hike: Bollinger Creek Trail, Las Trampas Regional Wilderness
It was pretty darn cold this past weekend, but I still enjoyed a Saturday morning hike at Las Trampas Regional Wilderness with my hiking group. At the start of the hike, the temperature was about 30 degrees, and it heated up all the way to about 36 by the end of the hike. When given the option of what to do, 9 times out of 10, my 5-year-old son will ask to go to the local BMX course to ride his bike. Strangely, I just realized I haven’t written about this yet!! We’ve been taking him to ride on the course since he was three years old. At first, even though he already knew how to ride a … Continue reading Bliss… the BMX Park
A friend recommended that I check out this park, and we finally made it there a few weeks ago. Creekside Park in San Ramon is a fun little park, with two play areas; one for little kids, one for older kids. This is one of the few parks around that might actually be challenging for older (8+) kids to climb on. The structure also has … Continue reading Great Climbing Structures, Creekside Park, San Ramon
The weather is warming up, so it’s time to find fun outdoor activities for the kids that incorporate water play. Kids love to play in water… any kind of water! The play areas I’ve included in this list are all free and are located within local community parks. If the features aren’t already on in the park near you, they will be beginning this Memorial … Continue reading Ten Fun East Bay Parks with Free Water Play Features
With summer only a couple months away, it’s time to begin training for summer hiking in the Sierras. Also, after the social and kid-oriented Easter festivities yesterday, I really needed to regroup this morning with a little alone time. I also felt the need for some exercise after the feast at my parent’s house yesterday. For these reasons, I decided to head out for a … Continue reading Solo Hike, Rocky Ridge View Trail, Las Trampas, San Ramon
