Another of our favorite festivals is coming up this weekend… the Harvest Festival at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont. This is such a fun festival for kids!
The highlight of this event for us is the corn picking. How often do kids get to head into the fields and hand-pick corn?? My son (then four) ran into the corn fields over and over again last year, each time coming out with an armload full of corn. He loved it! Ardenwood grows two kinds of corn for visitors to pick during the Harvest Festival… the ornamental Indian corn, which are great for seasonal decorations, and popping corn.
Other fun activities include:
- Grain milling: Learn how corn and wheat are ground into flour
- Corn husk doll making
- Ice cream making
- Train rides
- Blacksmithing demonstrations
- Magic and “wizard training” show for kids
- Visit the animals in the farmyard
- Tours of the Patterson House
- Live music
